As a pilot, I’m often away from home, and I wanted to create a way for my kids to always know my direction and distance from home. That’s how the Dad Finder app was born — a simple solution to keep us connected, no matter the miles between us.
The Dad Compass
Dad Finder computes the direction and distance you are from home and keeps the listening device updated. It can be a phone, an iPad, or the coolest of them all: the Dad Compass — a vintage wooden device that turns its arrow and updates your distance automatically. You only need a WiFi connection to get it working.

How does it work?
Download the “Dad Finder” app on your phone and use it in “Dad” mode (the default). Use another phone in “Child” mode — or a Dad Compass “Home Base” unit — to track Dad’s direction and distance. You can use as many child/home devices as you want for a single Dad phone.
What about my privacy?
The app is built around your data privacy. No coordinates are ever stored, in-phone or on our servers — only numeric heading and distance values are computed and synchronized between devices.
Is it just for dads?
Not at all. You can fully customize the app, changing the “Dad” concept to “Mom” or anything else you’d like, and switch between miles and kilometers.
Can it work between iOS and Android?
Yes — Dad and child devices don’t have to be on the same app store to work together.
